In an effort to encourage residents to prepare themselves and their community for emergency situations, the Vista Fire Department will begin their next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program on April 11. The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains the participants in basic disaster or emergency response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can tend to themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the event of a disaster.

The class is scheduled to meet every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. through May 30 and will be taught by instructors from the Vista Fire Department, who will provide a wide range of background and experience for attendees. To learn more or to enroll online visit www.vistacert.org.
