Best for Women
Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland (SIVNCI) held its annual Salad Luncheon fundraiser in mid-April at Grace Presbyterian Church in Vista. With over 200 people in attendance, the event featured prominent community members who volunteered to help donning the Soroptimists’ signature “Best for Women” aprons – including Lenna Wright from Congressman Darrell Issa’s office, Vista Deputy Mayor Amanda Rigby, Marie “MJ” Joyce from State Assemblywoman Marie Waldron’s office, Vista Councilman John Aguilera, Vista City Council candidate and Soroptimist Victoria Waufle, and Vista Firemen Mike Easterling, Mark Gaffney, Barry Galvin, Eric Kilpatrick, Matt Kennedy, Joseph McNally, and Ned Vanderpol.
The event raised an amazing total of $5,000, which will be added to the club’s service fund to be distributed as grants and scholarships to qualifying women and charities. SIVNCI supports local community organizations such as Children’s Paradise, North County Lifeline, Operation HOPE, Vista Teen Outreach, Welcome Home Ministries, Veteran’s Association of North County, Elizabeth Hospice, Hospice of the North Coast, Solutions for Change, Trauma Intervention Program, and Vista Community Clinic.
