It is nearly time for the annual Vista Strawberry Festival once again. Last year’s event welcomed over 90,000 attendees and this year promises to be even bigger and better. The popular kids’ ride area will open a few days early on May 21 and will feature an exciting new 250 foot zipline attraction that will be fun for both kids and adults. The signature Chalk Alive Sidewalk Art display, sponsored by Twin Oaks Gallery, starts on May 23 and everyone is invited to come out and watch as the talented artists create their masterpieces. The official start of the festival begins on May 24 in historic Downtown Vista with the start of the Strawberry Festival Run, which offers 10K, 5K, 1-mile, and 1/4-mile courses for runners of all skill levels. Other highlights of the day will include the pie eating contest, the strawberry costume contest, Strawberry Idol, over 300 vendors, craft beers from local breweries, carnival rides, and much more. Vista Chamber of Commerce CEO Bret Schanzenbach commented, “The Vista Strawberry Festival is the only festival in San Diego County that celebrates all the joys and pleasures of the strawberry.” For more information or for a full schedule of events visit www.vistastrawberryfest.com.
