The Vista Community Clinic (VCC) recently received a grant from Susan G. Komen San Diego to help fund breast health patient navigation and support services. Part of a larger $1.1 million grant that was distributed to various local organizations that conduct breast cancer research or offer breast health services, it makes up the largest and most comprehensive breast health program in San Diego County. The funds were raised through Komen’s annual special events and fundraisers, such as the Race for the Cure, and will help provide free diagnostic mammograms, screenings, surgeries, temporary financial aid for living expenses, meal deliveries, education, research, and more for qualified men and women. Grants like these help local programs to reduce breast cancer incidence and mortality and assist research programs in finding a cure. VCC has five health center locations throughout Vista and Oceanside.
